Announcing legacy Snort version support conditions

Greetings! As part of our daily ET QA process we measure and reconcile performance for our rules across versions of our supported engines, Suricata and Snort. With an eye towards EOL’d Snort versions we have made the following changes to our QA processes and thus our supported point versions of Snort:

The following engines will no longer be part of ET QA for Snort:

  • snort-2.9.5
  • snort-2.9.6.2
  • snort-2.9.8.3

The current supported ET Snort engine versions for QA are:

  • snort-2.9.13
  • snort-2.9.14.1
  • snort-2.9.15.1
  • snort-2.9.16.1
  • snort-2.9.17
  • snort-2.9.17.1
  • snort-2.9.18.1
  • snort 2.9.19
  • snort 2.9.20

This means that errors may arise from newly shipped ET rules within the now unsupported Snort versions. Please let us know of any issues either here in our Discourse site or via email at support(at)emergingthreats(dot)net.

Thank you!
